Crystals form when a pattern of molecules come together.
Whether you like to wear them or use them for healing purposes, crystals are an undoubtedly beautiful natural mineral. Crystals are formed by a repeating pattern of molecules, known as unit cells, connecting together. Natural crystals come in many different colors, including blue. Although many blue crystals, such as the blue quartz crystal are laboratory produced, there are some naturally occurring blue crystals. Crystal therapy advocates believe that blue crystal promotes peace and tranquility.
Blue Kyanite
Kyanite crystals are shaped like flat knife blades and have a light blue and gray appearance. Kyanite has been found in the mountains of North Carolina and Montana, as well as Switzerland, Brazil and Myanmar. Crystal healers believe that blue kyanite helps open up psychic ability to telepathic communication.
Blue Phantom Flourite
Blue Phantom Flourite can be found in mountainous areas all over the world, and are typically square-shaped. It is believed that fluorite helps mental clarity, stability and intuition. Blue flourite in particular is believed to help with communicating deep thoughts and brings about inner peace.
Blue Apatite
Apatite is a calcium phosphate crystal, with a highly transparent and glassy shape. It can be found in the United States, Mexico, Norway, Russia and Sri Lanka. Crystal healers believe apatite crystals help promote calcium absorption and easy hypertension. Blue apatite crystals in particular are said to help integrate the emotional, physical and intellectual parts of ourselves.

Herbal cigarettes contain ingredients such as cloves, corn silk, banana skins, weeds and other herbal ingredients. Many varieties of herbal cigarettes are imported from India and Southeast Asia and sold at natural health stores and online. Smokers think that these cigarettes are a better alternative to standard cigarettes with surgeon general warnings on the label. However, herbal cigarettes are just as dangerous as regular cigarettes.
Deceptive Advertising
The Federal Trade Commission recently settled with natural cigarette companies such as the Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company for deceptive advertising. The FTC found that the companies lied to consumers with their claims that their cigarettes didn't contain additives or pose any health risks. The companies were forced to add health warnings to their packages.
Nicotine
A study conducted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse Intramural Research Program in Baltimore found that clove cigarettes, bidis and additive-free cigarettes release about the same about of nicotine as standard cigarettes.
Ingredients
Herbal cigarettes that do not contain nicotine use other hazardous ingredients such as tar and carbon monoxide.
Clove Cigarettes
The National Institute on Drug Abuse says that clove herbal cigarettes are dangerous when burned. The chemicals produced when burned increases smokers risks of respiratory conditions of pneumonia, bronchitis and lung infections.
Bidis
These cigarettes appeal to young smokers because of candy-like flavors like vanilla, chocolate and fruit. Tendu leaves used to wrap bidis do not burn easily, causing smokers to inhale more cancer-causing compounds and toxins into their lungs.
Additive-Free Cigarettes
Additive-free, herbal cigarettes use whole-leaf tobacco. The National Institute on Drug Abuse states that many smokers choose these cigarettes in place of standard brands. However, studies show that plasma nicotine levels are higher and the high nicotine levels remain in the body longer.

Zantrex, or Zantrex-3 as it is commonly called, is an over-the-counter weight loss supplement manufactured by Zoller Laboratories. According to Zoller Laboratories, each 2-capsule serving contains more than 300 mg of caffeine, so people who are highly sensitive to caffeine and those who have high blood pressure, diabetes or heart conditions should not take Zantrex. Due to the high caffeine content there are several potentially dangerous side effects associated with Zantrex. As with any diet supplement, it is always advisable to consult a doctor before use.
Anxiety
Because caffeine is a stimulant, many people will experience anxiety, irritability, nervousness, tremors and/or profuse sweating when consuming large doses of the drug. Zoller Laboratories suggests taking two capsules before each meal, up to six capsules a day. One two-capsule dose of Zantrex contains more caffeine than the 200 to 300 mg per day the Mayo Clinic recommends as a general maximum, so anxiety and nervousness may be quite profound, especially in individuals who already consume caffeinated beverages or foods on a regular basis. Anxiety and its associated physical effects may lead to more severe mental issues and may intensify with continued caffeine usage.
Gastrointestinal
The caffeine in Zantrex may lead to gastrointestinal problems such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or stomachaches. These side effects are more prevalent in individuals starting Zantrex who do not regularly consume caffeine, and thus do not have a tolerance to the drug. Many gastrointestinal side effects may subside on their own, but do not ignore persisting symptoms. Prolonged vomiting or diarrhea can cause moderate to severe dehydration that may lead to other medical problems. Seek medical attention as soon as possible if blood is present in vomit or stools, as this can be a sign of dangerous internal bleeding or a severe gastrointestinal problem.
Heart
Large doses of caffeine, such as those in Zantrex, can cause fast or irregular heartbeat. Any amount of caffeine will slightly increase a person's heart rate, but massive doses of the drug over a long period of time may contribute to further heart problems. People taking Zantrex should avoid caffeinated beverages and foods as much as possible due to the increased risk of cardiovascular problems associated with long-term irregular heart rhythms.
Sleep
Caffeine causes sleep disturbances such as insomnia or unusual tiredness in many individuals. While these two side effects may seem contradictory, one of the biggest sleep-related dangers of Zantrex's high caffeine content is the inability to focus and concentrate while driving or operating dangerous equipment. Caffeine causes many people to feel extremely tired, but they often find they are unable to fall asleep or stay asleep for long periods of time. Lack of sleep can create a potentially dangerous situation when an individual's concentration is negatively affected, and the immune system can also be compromised by not getting enough quality sleep.
Drug Interactions
Some medications and supplements can negatively interact with caffeine and should not be taken in conjunction with Zantrex. Antibacterial antibiotics, such as ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin, can inhibit the body's ability to break down caffeine. This increases the amount of time caffeine stays in an individual's system and can increase the possibility of an overdose. Theophylline and other bronchodilators have many caffeine-like effects. Taking Zantrex while on these types of medications greatly increases the risk of negative gastrointestinal and cardiovascular effects. The Food and Drug Administration has banned the use of ephedra in supplements because of the increased risk of stroke, seizure, heart attack or death. Some herbal teas still contain ephedra, and it is especially dangerous when used in conjunction with caffeine-containing drugs such as Zantrex.
Setting up a massage business can be very expensive, especially if you need to purchase big-ticket items. To save money, consider buying a used massage table. As long as the massage table is in good condition, even a secondhand one will provide several years of use.
Instructions
1. Determine the type of used massage table you would like to purchase: portable, lightweight, Ayurveda massage, or memory foam.
2. Find vendors that sell used massage tables. Many massage table retailers have used stock that they are willing to sell. Some online stores that sell used massage tables include Bodywork Central. You can also browse the classified ads on the American Massage Therapy Association's website to see what their members are selling.
3. Bid on used massage tables through a health supply auction website. If you are not pleased with the selection from massage product stores, go to sites like Dot Med. Register with the site to bid on secondhand equipment.
4. Ask the seller a lot of questions about the specifications and condition of the used massage table. You need to know the length, width and adjustable height of the table. The retailer should also tell you the material, model and manufacturer of the table, and its exact age. Ask to see close-up photos of high-wear sections like headrests.
5. Make payment arrangements. Attempt to negotiate the price based on condition, model and age. Determine the delivery method of the used massage table as well. If it's a large table, you may need to pick it up in person. Otherwise, your shipping charges may be high.

While some stress is actually necessary for you to function at your best, too much takes a mental and physical toll. Learn to manage stress levels to prevent anxiety, depression and other conditions.
Instructions
1. Write down everything you have to do when you're feeling overwhelmed. Set a time frame, then block out when you will accomplish what. By divvying up your workload into manageable chunks, each with an allotted time, you'll feel more relaxed about the work before you.
2. Concentrate on one task at a time. Stressing about work you haven't done yet only detracts from accomplishing the task at hand.
3. Manage your energies wisely, prioritize your workload and put in less effort for low-priority jobs, and avoid expending energy on unimportant tasks.
4. Delegate responsibility and get outside help if you feel overwhelmed. Hire a gardener for your lawn or a baby sitter for your child when you feel pressed for time.
5. Reward yourself for accomplishing things. Acknowledge the work you put in and give yourself a pat on the back, instead of immediately rushing into the next task and creating more stress.
6. Take small breaks during work. Visit a nearby cafe or take a quick walk, or allow yourself 10 minutes to relax in your office: Close your eyes, strip your mind of work-related thoughts, visualize a pleasant landscape or vacation scene and relax your muscles.
7. Exercise regularly to maintain your health and release stress, or take up a hobby. Set aside some quiet time to meditate and relax.
8. Give yourself vacations. If indulging in a long vacation (and staying away from work) seems even more stressful, try taking several short vacations per year.
9. Maintain your perspective by asking yourself, "Is the situation at hand really that serious that I should become stressed-out about it?"

Milk thistle supports liver function, while ginger has potent anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea properties. Of the natural supplements on the market, these two rank highly in terms of safety and usefulness.
Milk Thistle
According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, milk thistle, which contains the active compounds silmaryin, silibinin and silidianin, may prevent and repair liver damage from alcohol or hepatitis.
Considerations
Phosphatidylcholine makes these active compounds more available in the liver than they would be without the presence of this nutrient. Users can take a combined milk thistle supplement for better absorption.
Ginger
Ginger makes good cookies and Asian food, but it also has surprising health benefits. According to the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, ginger fights nausea with great potency - whether in patients recovering from surgery or a simple case of pregnancy-related morning sickness.
Benefits
In addition to working against nausea, ginger also serves as an effective anti-inflammatory. In a 2005 article published in the Journal of Medicinal Food, researchers with RMG Biosciences, Inc., reported that ginger supplements can fulfill some of the same functions as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, but possibly more effectively and with fewer side effects.
Potential
Milk thistle and ginger may both make good supplements for cancer patients: ginger for nausea and milk thistle for liver protection. In addition, the University of Maryland Medical Center reports that milk thistle appears to have anti-cancer properties itself, though researchers must do more testing to confirm this hypothesis.

The mineral muscovite has heat-resistant properties that make it popular in electronics manufacturing.
Muscovite is a valuable industrial mineral found in major deposits in Asia and South America. Russians first used muscovite in window glass, due to the mineral's transparency and ability to be worked into thin sheets. Today, manufacturers mostly use heat-resistant muscovite as an insulating substance in electrical products. Muscovite also serves as fireproofing and as a lubricant in oils. Ground muscovite can even be seen in wallpaper and makeup, to add shine and glitter.
Color, Streak and Luster
Muscovite isn't known for its beauty, but it does come in a variety of colors, including shades of silver, yellow, brown, green and red. Most commonly, muscovite has no color, or is clear. Even in its colored forms, muscovite's streaking patterns are usually white. Luster classifies how light bounces off of a mineral's surface. Muscovite is known for a luster ranging from vitreous, or glass-like, to pearly.
Diaphaneity
This physical trait assesses a mineral's transparency. Muscovite's diaphaneity ranges from transparent to translucent. Some specimens are transparent, which means light can enter and exit the mineral's substance unimpeded. Other samples are translucent, allowing some light to enter, but in a weakened or distorted fashion.
Cleavage
Cleavage measures how well a mineral divides or breaks apart. The five classes of this trait range from no cleavage to perfect cleavage. Muscovite possesses perfect cleavage qualities, so it splits without any rough surfaces, and has only smooth planes where it is broken. This cleavage quality comes from muscovite's structure, which includes aluminum silicate layers interspersed with bonding layers of potassium ions. Muscovite is a relatively strong mineral, considering its strong cleavage properties.
Hardness
The Mohs hardness scale gauges how easily a smooth surface can be scratched or abraded. The scale ranges from zero for liquids up to 10 for diamonds. Muscovite has a Mohs hardness ranking ranging from 2.5 to 3, which means its surface can be scratched by a fingernail or by the soft mineral, calcite. This softer property makes muscovite an industrially malleable substance, suited for shaping in and around small electrical wires on circuit boards and in other electrical components.
Specific Gravity
This measurement pinpoints a mineral specimen's density relative to its weight and size. Specific gravity compares a mineral's weight to water. Water's specific gravity is 1.0. Muscovite's specific gravity is 2.8 to 2.9, which means it's 2.8 to 2.9 times heavier than water. Minerals with specific gravity ranging from 2 to 4.5 are considered average in density.

Lavender is a flowering plant found throughout the United States, southern Europe and Australia. It is one of the most versatile and commonly used plants to treat a variety of disorders from insomnia to digestive upsets. Essential oils are made from the volatile aromatic oil of a plant and are used to scent soaps, shampoos, cosmetics and perfumes, but the oil in pure form is also used for healing and health purposes, to bring both psychological and physical well-being. Lavender is reported to have many uses in treating a variety of complaints.
Description
Lavender has been used for many years for its sedative, purifying and antiseptic properties. It was used to treat and disinfect wounds during wars, and lavender flowers were worn to prevent headaches and sun stroke. It was used as a sedative and to treat digestive disorders. Equipment and surfaces were sterilized using lavender's antiseptic properties.
Properties
Lavender is an antiseptic, a detoxifier and a natural antibiotic. It has strong sedative properties and is commonly used to treat anxiety disorders and insomnia. It is quickly absorbed through the skin and can be traced in the blood after as little as 5 minutes. The essential oil is taken from the flower of the plant and both the aroma and the application of the oil on the skin have a healing effect on the nervous system, inducing a sense of relaxation and calm.
Benefits
Lavender has many therapeutic uses. It is commonly used to treat insomnia, anxiety and depression but it is also used as an antiseptic for skin problems such as acne and sunburn as well as being an antiseptic for cuts and scrapes. It is known to aid digestion by healing the lining of the digestive tract and helping to produce bile. Tension headaches, pre-menstrual tension and menstrual cramps are relieved through the use of lavender oil.
Treatment
Lavender can be used in many ways. Adding a few drops to a bath will help to heal and replenish the nervous system. Add 5 drops of lavender oil to a tablespoon of almond or olive oil. Rub it into skin. This will allow you to take in all the benefits of lavender oil. Putting a few drops of lavender on your pillow will help to relieve insomnia. Lavender can be applied to the skin using a cotton ball to clean cuts and skin irritations. Lavender is one of the only oils that can be safely applied to the skin.
Considerations
Do not use the oil internally. Lavender oil should never be consumed, but the dried flowers may be used to make tea. To make the tea, allow 1 to 2 tsp. of the flowers to steep in a cup of boiled water for 10 to 15 minutes. Drinking the tea provides the same benefits as using the oil. It is used for stimulating digestion and relaxing and uplifting the mind.

Managed care systems are one way to fund your healthcare.
A managed care system is a form of insurance in which the insurer works with specific healthcare providers, rather than covering healthcare across the board.
Advantages
The major advantage of a managed care plan is that it can keep costs per person low. This is because it is essentially buying healthcare in bulk--by providing a large number of clients to certain doctors and hospitals, these doctors and hospitals don't have to charge each individual as much.
Types
There are three types of managed care plans--Health Maintenance Organizations, Preferred Provider Organizations and Point of Service plans. The first of these has a set group of healthcare providers available, the second has a preferred, cheaper group but will still fund a portion of outside providers, and the third lets you pay the same amount no matter whom you see. These are arranged in order from cheapest to most expensive.
Problems
The major problem with managed care plans is that it is often difficult to get emergency room treatment--some plans either bill people large amounts afterward or make them go through a phone-in diagnostic procedure before they go to the emergency room, which is time-consuming during a time when most people don't need their time consumed.

Bluestone is a flat stone used for patios, outdoor steps and garden pathways.
Bluestone is a smooth stone used for patios, outdoor stairs and pathways. Leaf stains can ruin the appearance of a bluestone patio. Leaves from deciduous trees or needles from evergreens fall on the stone and begin to decompose. As the organic materials break down they leave stubborn stains on bluestone. Cleaning bluestone requires a method tough enough to remove the stain but not so tough that it affects the surface of the stone.
Instructions
1. Sweep the bluestone patio to remove leaves, evergreen needles and other debris. Hose off mud and decomposed leaf parts from the patio surface.
2. Put on plastic waterproof gloves and safety goggles. Wear waterproof boots and protective clothing to keep the bleach solution off your skin. Bleach will ruin good clothes by permanently discoloring them so don't wear anything you particularly care about.
3. Fill a bucket with 10 parts warm water and one part household bleach and mix the solution thoroughly.
4. Cover plants with a plastic drop cloth to keep the bleach from splashing on the leaves and soil and damaging the garden areas around your bluestone.
5. Pour the bleach and water solution onto the leaf stains on the bluestone and let it sit for five minutes.
6. Scrub the stains with a medium bristled brush until the stains lift and fade.
7. Hose off the patio with clean water and let it dry completely.
Sage tea exhibits properties especially beneficial to women.
Sage tea has multiple benefits which are realized through the proper application. Some remedies call for cold compresses, other for ingesting hot cups of tea twice a day. Before starting a regimen of sage tea, become aware of any possible complications. For example, women who are nursing or pregnant should usually avoid sage tea.
Mouth
Sage tea is used as a gargle to help heal sore throats, according to the website Annie's Remedy. The oils within the sage plant sooth mucus membranes and reduce inflammation, so an infusion made with sage also exhibits the same characteristics. Mouth sores, dental abscesses and inflammations of the tonsils are additional afflictions that gargling and ingesting sage tea will help treat.
Hair and Skin
Reduce dandruff with a rinse of sage tea.
Many topical antiperspirants contain sage because of its ability to dry up perspiration. According to Herbal Remedies World, when a tea made from sage is applied to the scalp and areas that tend to get oily, it will reduce the amount of perspiration produced. When applied to the hair, sage tea is known to reduce dandruff and heal inflamed tissue.
Reproductive
According to Botanical.com, hot sage tea is a diaphoretic, meaning it stimulates the flow of fluids through the body. Cold sage tea is said to do the opposite. Because of this characteristic it may help to regulate suppressed menstrual cycles. Cold sage tea will reduce discomfort from night sweats during menopause. Also, mothers who are ready to stop breast feeding can ingest cold sage tea to reduce the flow to breast milk. However, Botanical.com cautions mothers against drinking sage tea while pregnant as it is known to induce contractions.
Stomach and Digestion
Sage tea will aid digestion and ease upset stomachs. This infusion is a cooling remedy for fevers and delirium, according to the website Tea Benefits. Two to four cups of cold sage tea per day will arrest diarrhea, according to Botanical.com. Sage tea has been used internally throughout the past to combat typhoid fever, weak digestion, internal bleeding such as ulcers and kidney problems.
Compress
Use a compress of sage tea to relieve headache pain.
Warm and cold compresses are made by soaking a clean cloth in sage tea. These compresses are applied to lacerations and sores on the body to curb bleeding and prevent infection until proper medical attention is applied. Bug bites and stings can be eased with the application of a sage compress. Aromatically, sage is good for clearing throat and lungs of excess mucus, according to Botanical.com. A compress is also commonly applied to the forehead for relief from headaches.

Cancer starts off as a regular cell. Most cells have an expected life cycle of growth, reproduction and death. A cancerous cell, however, has somehow gone wrong and not completed the cycle normally. A cancerous cell may split abnormally, not die or merge with other cancer cells. Either way, a cancer cell does something out of the ordinary and it usually starts in the upper layers of the body's organs called the epithelium.
The Cancerous Tumor Grows
Eventually the tumor grows to where oxygen and other life-sustaining nutrients do not reach the center of the cancerous cell. The inner parts of the tumor mass die off. At this point, the outer layers come inside and the growth cycle of the tumor is sustained.
Invasion
Because of the sustaining cycle of the inner cancerous cells dying and regrowing, the cancer cell can break down its membrane. When this happens, the cancer cell releases the MMP protein, which can break through the epithelium. The breaking of the membrane and epithelium creates a path for the cancerous tumor cells to move freely into the blood vessels and attack other parts of the body.
The liver is the largest body organ and is responsible for digesting and metabolizing food and processing necessary fluid mixtures that the body needs to maintain optimum health. Poorly functioning livers are often the underlying causes of mental and physical ailments. However, in the modern world of treating the symptoms and not the causes of disease, liver problems often go overlooked and untreated. Cleansing the liver can effectively remove toxic substances from the liver and re-establish natural physical and emotional good health and well being.
Releasing Liver Gallstones
One of the major benefits of cleansing the liver is releasing and eliminating gallstones from the liver. The common assumption that gallstones are only found in the gallbladder is erroneous. Actually, the majority of gallstones are formed in the liver and sometimes hundreds, and even thousands, of gallstones are blocking the liver bile ducts that attach the liver and gallbladder to the small intestine. These bile ducts aid in fat digestion by moving bile from the gallbladder and liver into the small intestine. When these bile ducts are blocked with gallstones, the liver becomes overtaxed and is unable to perform efficiently, allowing illness and disease to develop within the body.
Eradicating Skin Inflammation
According to Ayurvedic, traditional Indian medicine principles, five digestive fires are found in the liver that signifies fire, water, earth, space and air. These five digestive fires each have a key role in digesting specific food elements. When the liver is clogged with impurities, these five digestive fires cannot properly function and inflammation of the skin, including acne, psoriasis, cold sores and skin breakouts may occur. Cleansing the liver with Ayurvedic liver cleansing products will restore the balance of the five digestive fires and eradicate the skin inflammations.
Restoring Pleasant Personality and Mood
Many people suffer with various personality and mood disorders without any known internal or external negative factors precipitating these moods. Often these abnormalities can be traced to poor liver function. Slow liver functioning will result in an abundance of toxic materials flowing through the blood stream and ultimately effecting brain function. Liver cleansing can remove these toxic materials, replenish proper brain functioning and restore pleasant personalities and moods.
Flushing Out Excess Weight
While modern medicine and modern social patterns tend to regard excessive weight as something to be eradicated by diet and exercise, not all people believe this to be correct. According to Dr. Sandra Cabot, the liver is the "supreme organ of metabolism" and a malfunctioning liver is the root cause of many fat deposits and enlarged abdomens. Cabot advocates that the cleansing of the liver through diet is the key to treating the actual cause of weight gain and not just the weight gain itself.
Headache/Allergy Relief
Inadequate liver functioning can be the underlying cause of many minor to severe allergic reactions and head pain. Hives, headaches and hay fever are just a few ailments that can be traced back to poor liver function. Cleansing the liver can remove the harmful poisonous substances that cause the body to experience head pain and seasonal allergies.

Cantaloupe seeds contain many nutrients and health benefits.
According to the non-profit George Mateljan Foundation's website,The World's Healthiest Foods, cantaloupe melon is well known for its low calories and antioxidants, which help prevent heart disease and cancer. In addition to the nutritional value contained in the fruit, cantaloupe seeds are not only edible but also just as beneficial as the fruit to one's health.
About Cantaloupe
Cantaloupe is classified as a muskmelon, which is a species of melon that includes a large range of cultivated varieties. Cantaloupe belongs to the sub-group that is identifiable by its orange flesh and netted interior where the seeds are found.
Nutrition in Melon Seeds
According to nutritionist George Rapitis, melon seeds in general contain nutrients such as protein, dietary fiber, vitamin E, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium. In a study conducted by Ege University that produced and analysed a melon seed beverage, the drink was found to be a significant source of magnesium, iron and protein. In another study published in the "World Applied Sciences Journal," a mixed orange-cantaloupe seed beverage was found to be a good source of potassium and phosphorus.
Benefits of Protein
The protein found in cantaloupe seeds helps maintain healthy hair and nails. Protein is also important for building enzymes and hormones that the body needs.
Benefits of Antioxidants
Like the fruit, cantaloupe seeds are a source of antioxidants such as vitamin C and vitamin E, verified by Health Ranger founder Mike Adams's HealingFoodReference.com. Antioxidants help reduce the likelihood of cancer and delay the onset of degenerative diseases that come with age. Antioxidants also help lower blood cholesterol.
Benefits of Minerals
Iron, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium are all minerals that are found in cantaloupe seeds and needed by the body for healthy functioning.
Iron helps produce red blood cells which keep the body well supplied with oxygen.
Magnesium helps maintain healthy nerve signals, bones and muscle contraction.
Phosphorus contributes to healthy bones and teeth and is also needed to maximize the benefits of calcium in the body.
Potassium helps lower high blood pressure by aiding the excretion of sodium.
Consumption
Cantaloupe seeds can be consumed raw, roasted or blended together with cantaloupe fruit.
Health risks
The rind of a cantaloupe can carry harmful bacteria, including salmonella, and therefore should always be thoroughly washed before being prepared for consumption.

When most people think about after effects from anesthesia, they typically only consider one type of anesthesia--general anesthesia. General anesthesia is used to help put patients to "sleep" during medical procedures. Anesthetized sleep is different from normal sleep because it stops the brain from feeling pain and forming memories, and it occurs in response to IV drugs or inhaled gases. Unfortunately, some patients will suffer from effects after they wake up.
Types
The four types of anesthesia include local, conscious sedation, regional and general. Local involves a small area and may be topical or injected. There is generally no after effect once the area wakes up, except for possible pain from the procedure that caused the need for anesthesia. Conscious sedation is done to keep a patient awake but unable to feel pain. In most cases, you won't remember anything that happened or that you may have said. Regional anesthesia numbs a large part of your body but generally allows you to stay awake. General anesthesia puts you to sleep.
After Effects
After effects for conscious sedation, regional anesthesia and general anesthesia are similar, although they vary in severity. Most after effects from anesthesia are minor, including vomiting, nausea, headaches, a "hangover," sore throat (if a breathing tube was inserted) and some bruising at the site of the IV injection. Allergic reactions are also possible, and these may lead to heart and lung infections or problems later. Your personal risk factors, including your overall health, will also play a part in determining how you respond after anesthesia.
Waking Up
A common concern is that you will wake up in the middle of a surgical procedure. Anesthesia awareness, however, only happens in about 0.006 percent of all surgeries, and most of the patients who do wake up have only vague memories of what they experienced. The majority do not feel any pain, even while awake. The condition is genetic, though, so if you have family members who have experienced it, you may also be at risk.
Complications
All anesthetics may cause complications. Local anesthesia can cause systemic toxicity if used in high doses, which may affect body functions such as breathing and heart rate. Regional anesthesia, if injected too close to a nerve, can cause permanent damage, including weakness, pain and numbness. If the injection site is the spine, a headache can be caused by leaking fluid. This is a rare complication, affecting only 1 to 2 percent of all patients who receive spinal cord injections, and it is treatable. General anesthesia can cause aspiration (inhalation of liquid or an object into the lungs), but if the patient avoids eating and drinking before the procedure, this risk is severely lessened.
Prevention/Solution
To help avoid suffering from after effects, be sure to discuss health problems, medications, allergies, social habits (drinking, smoking and drug use) and any past problems you've had with anesthesia with your doctor. Be sure to follow the instructions you are given for pre-op, including stopping eating and drinking a predetermined amount of hours before the anesthesia will be administered. If you eat or drink for any reason during that blocked time, inform your doctor, as the procedure may have to be delayed or moved.

The benefits of a low-carb diet have been debated by medical professionals. While eliminating carbohydrates removed important nutrients from the body, many people experience various health benefits of a low-carb diet when they stop eating unhealthy variants of this food group. The American Diabetes Association conducted a six-week study to weigh the short-term benefits of a low-carb diet.
Low Calories
One of the benefits of a low-carb diet is that people consume fewer calories because unhealthy carbohydrates are removed.
Metabolism
A study reported in Bio-Medicine states that one of the benefits of a low-carb diet is that it may help boost metabolism, thus preventing weight gain.
Hunger
The foods emphasized in a low-carb diet such as whole grains, fruits and nuts digest slowly; therefore, people fill full longer.
Fatty Liver
A study in Science Daily states that low-carb diets decrease fatty livers in people who suffer from insulin-resistant diseases like diabetes.
Fat Burning
Science Daily relates a study that the benefits of a low-carb diet for many people is that their bodies burn fat all day.
Shoulder pain can be successfully treated with physical therapy to strengthen the supporting muscles; however, some cases require surgery for relief and repair. The shoulder joint has the greatest range of motion and is at risk for injuries. Age, overuse, trauma and daily strain all contribute to pain; common shoulder conditions also responsible for pain include tendinitis, rotator cuff tear, arthritis and joint instability.
Determine the Source of the Pain
After a family history is acquired, the shoulder's range of motion, joint stability and strength is measured through a physical examination. The doctor tries to locate the exact area of pain; depending upon the findings, additional tests such as a shoulder X-ray shoulder, CT scan or MRI may be required. An arthogram may also be ordered, wherein dye is injected into the shoulder joint prior to the X-ray;ultrasounds can also be used. A diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis requires blood tests and joint fluid analysis.
Arthroscopic Surgery
Shoulder pain resulting from rough bone surfaces often need outpatient arthroscopic surgery. A series of tiny incisions is made and the surgeon inserts a pencil-thin arthroscope outfitted with a light and lens into the openings; the shoulder joint is viewable on a monitor, and repairs are made. Arthroscopic surgery is usually done to smooth rough bone surfaces and repair joint instability and rotator cuff tears.
Open Surgery
Open surgery is required when replacing the shoulder joint or repairing more serious rotator cuff tears. A large incision is made to reveal the joint area, and the surgeon makes repairs through this opening.
Worn out shoulder joints can be replaced depending upon the extent of joint damage, which determines whether a partial or total shoulder replacement, involving the ball and socket portions, is necessary. Replacement parts, or prostheses, are made of metal alloys or plastics; once cemented into place, bone grows around them.
Recovery
Typically, recovery can take up to 6 months, but this time frame depends upon the extent of the repairs, general health and the patient's compliance with a physical therapy routine. Simpler arthroscopic procedures such as smoothing bones recover in as short as 2 months. Rotator cuff tears require healing time for tendons regardless of the type of the surgical procedure. In general, recovery from arthroscopic procedures is easier due to the smaller incisions.
Critical aspects of surgical recovery include rehabilitation and physical therapy. Therapists develop programs specifically geared towards shoulder rehabilitation. Following the prescribed routine manages stiffness and maintain the shoulder's maximum, capable range of motion. Strengthening, range of motion and stretching exercises are significant in restoring the shoulder.
Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder, or adhesive capsulitis, is inflammation in the shoulder's connective tissue. This condition affects women more often than men---approximately 70 percent of patients with frozen shoulder are female. Symptoms tend to appear after age 40. The shoulder joint's capsule becomes stiff with progressive symptoms of aching or burning pain, and due to this pain, the shoulder's range of motion is compromised. The condition resolves itself through physical therapy, usually within a year; persistent pain is treated with acetaminophen or other over-the-counter, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Corticosteroids may also be injected into the joint for further relief. Arthroscopic surgery to break up scar tissue contributing to unresolved pain may be required.

Although many people believe bald is beautiful, it isn't always the preference of someone who is losing or has lost his hair. Men with male pattern baldness can turn to chemical treatments in hopes of turning around systematic hair loss. However, many also elect to have surgery to restore their hair. This article explains what is involved in hair transplant surgery.
Significance
Losing your hair is natural. It is estimated that you lose up to 100 strands of hair per day. It's part of the normal hair-growth cycle. In fact, 90 percent of the hair on your head is growing right now. The other 10 percent is in a resting period that lasts a few months. Once that resting period is over, those hairs will fall out and new hairs will take their place.
However, this is not the case with people who have male pattern baldness. With male pattern baldness, the new hairs that grow are not typical follicles. They are actually "peach fuzz," or very fine, light-colored hairs. As time passes, the hairline can recede as the new, cyclical 10 percent continues to turn into peach fuzz and not full follicles. Eventually, the entire head becomes bald.
Function
Hair-restoration surgery involves using your own head of hair. As mentioned earlier, the hair-growth cycle involves a continual push of follicles found underneath the scalp. Surgeons see these follicles in small patches called "plugs," or follicular units. Each plug contains up to 40 follicles. Hair-restoration surgeons try to extract these plugs from the hair that is still growing normally and place them into spots where you are balding; as many as 2,500 plugs can be transplanted in one procedure.
Misconceptions
You should consider a few facts and myths about hair transplant surgery. Male pattern baldness is a genetic disease that cannot be cured. Therefore, hair transplant surgery will not "cure" your baldness. It is just one way to delay the appearance of balding by moving good follicles to the balding spots. People with male pattern baldness will still continue to lose hair; it just won't be as obvious.
Also, only your own hairs can be used in hair transplant surgery. Synthetic hair transplants have not been developed as of yet. Hair transplant surgery also cannot be performed using most other body hairs (you can't move your chest hair to your scalp) or hair from other people, since their genetic follicular makeup is different.
Considerations
You can expect hair to fall out even after hair restoration surgery. This is a normal reaction of your body when it goes into shock, which can cause hair loss in people without male pattern baldness. As your scalp heals and your body gets over the shock, your hair will continue to return to the normal growth cycle.
Time Frame
Transplant surgeries can last anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. There is typically little pain involved. Patients can resume normal activities within a day of surgery. Stitches and sutures are removed between 8 and 10 days after surgery. It can take up to 5 months for the new hairs to grow to full length.

Food in all its glorious flavors and forms is a double-edged sword for many. Indulging in great food without restraint causes weight gain while cutting back on great food leaves you cranky. However, there is a method of cooking that increases flavor and boosts metabolism, giving you great food and the ability to kick start your metabolism and burn fat while eating it.
Instructions
1. Begin by visiting your local market. There are a vast amount pf spices that can kick start your metabolism. Almost all include some form of heat, be it chilies, curries or pepper. The theory is that it allows metabolism to increase by generating energy production and burning fat. Many of these come in blends that are great to add to dishes without any changes.
2. Start using some of the hot sauces and spices in your cooking. Curries go well with strong flavored meats such as goat and pork. The blends that can be bought pre-made usually contain some form of chili and therefore has capsaicin. Ground chili powder does not need to be super hot for you to benefit from an increased metabolism. A small pinch of dried chilies such as chipotle or Thai chilies will perk up the flavor of your food as well as start up your metabolism. Spicy salts blend heat and salt for a nice flavor boost to grilled meats. A pinch of cayenne to soups and sauces will get some zest in your food while adding some flavor as well.
3. Keep adding small amounts of spices to your foods. You will slowly build up a tolerance for the hotter spices such as a Jamaican jerk spice blend or even habanero peppers. As your tolerance grows, so does your metabolism. This small but sufficient boost in your fat burning will aid you in keeping weight off.

Rupturing an artery is a serious medical condition that requires immediate medical attention. If the rupture occurs due to an aneurysm, which is a bulge in the artery, warning signs may come on suddenly. Aneurysms can go undetected for years with no symptoms until rupture occurs. Whether arising from an aneurysm or trauma, recognizing the warning signs of a ruptured artery can save your life.
Pain
Pain will be dependent on the location of the artery rupture. If the rupture occurs in the abdominal aorta, there will be a penetrating pain in your back, side and abdomen. When the thoracic aorta ruptures, pain will be experienced in the jaw, back, neck and chest. A ruptured artery in the brain can cause a severe headache, while a rupture in smaller arteries through the body can cause pain in extremities.
Nausea
After the artery ruptures a typical warning sign is nausea. Nausea can be so severe that it is accompanied with vomiting. Clammy skin and an overall sick-to-your-stomach feeling in conjuction with severe pain is a sign to seek immediate medical attention.
Lightheadedness
Lightheadedness can occur no matter what artery ruptures. As the blood rushes out of the vessel and away from the organs depending on it, dizziness results. Upon standing, a rapid heart beat may develop as your heart works harder to try to get the necessary blood to your body's extremities, brain and other organs.
Shock
A ruptured artery can quickly send a person into shock from the sudden loss of blood. Any signs of shock should be taken seriously. These include shallow breathing, unconsciousness, bluish coloring and moist skin. Immediate medical attention needs to be sought as shock can quickly turn fatal.
Stroke
A ruptured artery in the brain specifically results in a stroke. Some of the warning signs that may be associated with this specific type of rupture are sudden numbness in one side of the body, weakness in the face, sudden confusion and difficulty with sight in one or both eyes. A sudden severe headache and sudden trouble walking are also warning signs of a ruptured artery in the brain due to an aneurysm.
The human papillomavirus (HPV) causes genital warts. Always consult a licensed health care professional for HPV infection. However, a number of treatment options may help you get rid of genital warts in the privacy of your home.
Instructions
1. Apply apple cider vinegar to the wart each night before bed. Soak a cotton ball in undiluted vinegar and apply it to the genital wart, covering the wart completely. The vinegar may sting or cause a burning sensation, but this is normal. Use a band-aid or surgical tape to hold the cotton in place overnight. Remove this dressing in the morning and clean the infected area with lukewarm water. Repeat the treatment each night. The warts will begin to darken and scab over. Continue treatment until the warts clear up.
2. Treat the infected area with a garlic poultice. Crush two raw garlic cloves in a garlic press and apply the crushed garlic to the genital warts. A burning sensation is normal. Leave the garlic poultice on for 10 to 15 minutes, then wipe it off with a cotton ball. Repeat the treatment once a day for up to 7 days.
3. Put onion juice on genital warts. Slice an onion and place the slices in a single layer on a plate. Lightly sprinkle salt over the slices and set the plate aside for at least 8 hours. The sprinkled salt will draw out the onion juice from the slices. Use a cotton ball to apply this juice to the wart every 4 hours.
4. Use a medication prescribed for treating genital warts. Your doctor can prescribe a number of patient-applied topical creams or gels. Podofilox (Condylox) and Imiquimod (Aldara), for example, are specially-formulated medications that you can apply topically at home.
5. Rub tea tree oil gently into the infected area using a cotton ball. Again, a mild stinging sensation is normal and harmless. Repeat this treatment once a day for 7 to 10 days. The genital warts will turn white and eventually fall off.

Elevated levels of cholesterol are widely recognized as a risk factor for heart disease and stroke, and people are encouraged to test and monitor their cholesterol levels to make sure that they are within normal ranges. But what exactly is the normal range for cholesterol levels?
Types
There are two main types of cholesterol: low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL). LDL is considered "bad" cholesterol, whereas HDL has beneficial properties and is sometimes called "good" cholesterol.
Normal LDL Levels
To have the lowest risk of heart disease, a person's LDL should ideally be below 100 mg/dL. Some doctors believe that LDL should be lower than 70 mg/dL for optimal heart health.
Normal HDL Levels
Levels of HDL should be between 35 and 60 mg/dL, but higher levels are not necessarily considered negative for health.
Overall Cholesterol Levels
In healthy individuals the combination of HDL and LDL should result in cholesterol levels of lower than 200 mg/dL.
Prevention/Solution
People with high cholesterol can attempt to improve their cholesterol levels with diet or exercise, but doctors may recommend cholesterol-lowering medications for people with excessively high levels or for whom lifestyle modifications do not work.

Serenoa, scientifically known as serenoa repens, is commonly referred to as saw palmetto. The berry of the saw palmetto plant is commonly used by individuals seeking natural alternatives for prostate gland enlargement problems and urinary difficulties.
Pancreatitis or Hepatitis
In rare instances, the use of saw palmetto may induce or contribute to the development of pancreatitis or hepatitis. The exact cause is unknown and there have only been a handful of cases where this has happened after prolonged use of the supplement.
According to doctors from St. Agnes Healthcare in Maryland, one such patient used saw palmetto intermittently over a period of four years. Two other patients had similar episodes after continuously starting and stopping their use of the supplement.
Rash
If you are allergic to plant-based products you should use caution when using saw palmetto. Because it comes from a plant, if you have an allergic reaction you may develop a rash or skin irritation. Any reaction of this sort should be immediately reported to your physician.
Yellowing
While most of these side effects are rare, many can be very serious. If you notice that your eyes or skin are becoming yellow you should stop the use of saw palmetto and notify your physician of your symptoms immediately. This may be a sign that the serenoa supplement is having a negative impact on the function of your liver.
Urination Difficulties
You may find that after taking serenoa you are having trouble passing urine or are experiencing pain while doing so. You may also find that your urine is turning dark yellow or brown. These may be signs that the saw palmetto supplement you are taking is having a negative impact on your kidneys and/or liver. These symptoms should also be immediately reported to your physician.
Other Serious Side Effects
There are several other serious side effects of serenoa that should be immediately reported to your health-care provider. Call your doctor if you have abdominal pain, fevers, chills, pain in your side or lower back, severe nausea or vomiting. These symptoms may all point towards a negative reaction to the saw palmetto supplement and should be monitored to ensure you do not develop an infection or kidney and liver damage.
Additional Common Side Effects
Occasionally individuals taking serenoa report experiencing breast tenderness, breast enlargement, headaches, heartburn and mild nausea. Your body may be adjusting to the supplement and these symptoms may go away on their own but if they become bothersome you should report them to your physician immediately.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly forms of cancer. It often goes undetected for years and by the time it is detected, it usually is inoperable, making many treatment options merely palliative. Even so, if caught early enough, there are effective treatments that can shrink or even eliminate pancreatic cancer from your body, providing you a positive prognosis.
Surgery
If caught very early on, pancreatic cancer sometimes is operable, meaning your doctor can remove the tumor. This is only feasible if the cancer has not spread to other organs or lymph nodes. The surgery involves removing a tumor in either the pancreatic head or the pancreatic tail and body. If you require the former, then your doctor will perform the Whipple procedure, which involves removing some small intestine, your gallbladder and the head of your pancreas. If you need the latter, your physician will remove the tail and some of the body of your pancreas.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is another treatment option for pancreatic cancer. It involves injecting very strong drugs into your body, or taking oral medications that target the pancreatic cancer cells, in an attempt to kill them. Your doctor may prescribe a single drug or a combination of drugs. Your doctor may recommend chemotherapy after surgery or in combination with radiation therapy for the best possible outcome.
Radiation
Radiation therapy also can be effective in treating pancreatic cancer. It involves using beams of energy targeted on cancer cells to try to kill them. Sometimes your physician will order radiation before surgery to help shrink your tumor, but she may also prescribe it afterward to reduce the chance of the cancer returning. Doctors often order radiation combined with chemotherapy to prevent a tumor from spreading, to shrink a tumor, or to prevent a tumor from returning.

The use of essential oils for beauty goes back to the days of the ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians, who learned extract these precious essences from plants and use them on the skin to moisturize, smooth, calm and help in healing. Myrrh and frankincense essential oils have long been valued for their anti-aging properties, as well. Use these tips to add essential oils to your beauty regimen.
Instructions
1. Treat skin to an essential oil steam bath. Fill a large bowl with boiling water. Add 4 drops each of mandarin and lavender oils for normal skin; lemon and eucalyptus oils for oily skin; and rose and chamomile oils for dry skin. Lean over the bowl with a towel draped over your head to keep in the steam. Stay about 12 inches above the bowl. Let the steam penetrate pores for two to five minutes. Dry skin with a clean towel and follow with a cleansing mask.
2. Create scented dusting powder. Start with 1 cup corn starch and mix in 1 tbsp. orris root powder. Choose an essential oil, such as bergamot, lemon, chamomile, clary sage or rose, or a combination that appeals to you. Slowly add 1/4 tsp. of essential oil to the starch mixture. Stir thoroughly to incorporate the scent. Keep in a sealed container and apply with a powder puff after shower or bath.
3. Make a soothing skin toner. Mix 1 egg white with 1 tbsp. glycerin or honey and 1 1/2 tsp. vodka or witch hazel. Blend well to break down the egg white and honey. Environmental factors such as Ph levels, temperature, oxygen levels, and how many fish share the tank all affect a goldfish's breathing rate. Keeping the tank or bowl clean goes a long way in extending the life of the goldfish.
Temperature
Goldfish thrive when the temperature is between 60 and 70F. The goldfish's breathing rate lessens when the water is colder. Likewise, raising the temperatures causes them to breathe faster.
Ph Levels
Keep Ph levels between 7.0 and 7.5 to ensure survival of the goldfish. In an outdoor aquarium ph can drop as low as 5.5 and the fish will survive but it shouldn't go past 8. Drinking water has a ph of 7. The fish do need a little acid in their water.
Fish Population
Don't put too many fish in one bowl or tank. If you see signs of stress, such as your fish gasping on top of the bowl or swimming abnormally, move the fish to another bowl. Changing the water daily also corrects this problem.
Considerations
You can buy filters compatible with your tank or bowl at many pet stores. Use an air pump if you anticipate caring for more than one goldfish. These filters will help you regulate the oxygen in the water so your fish will survive.

Healthy hair is a sign that your diet has the proper nutrients. If your hair is brittle, lacks shine and is slow to grow, it may indicate that your diet is poor or perhaps there is a hidden medical condition you are not aware of. There are shampoos and conditioners that claim they make your hair look healthy, but most people would prefer to have true healthy hair from the roots to the tips. This article will provide several items you can add to your diet for healthy hair.
Instructions
Eat for Healthy Hair
1. Eat a diet high in essential fatty acids like omega 3 fatty acids. Foods like salmon, flax seed, walnuts and almonds are very high in omega 3 fatty acids.
2. Eat a diet high in vitamin B12, B6 and folic acid. Consumer more sweet and white potatoes, bananas, spinach, tomatoes, citrus, whole grains and lentils.
3. Consume more healthy proteins like fish, lean chicken, eggs and soy each day. These proteins are critical for hair growth and health.
As fate would have it, you never drop and break your dentures at the dentist's office. You're always at home rushing to go somewhere when a break happens. Chipped and broken dentures not only look bad, they can damage your gums. Gluing them together with the right adhesive, one that won't damage the dentures or your gums, is something that you can do at home when the dentist is not available. Using an acrylic resin and monomer is a convenient and low-cost alternative to waiting for the dentist, and the process is surprisingly easy to complete at home.
Instructions
1. Clean the pieces of the broken dentures with a denture cleanser.
2. Lightly sand the broken edges of the acrylic dentures with a metal nail file.
3. Let the dentures dry for four minutes.
4. Apply new acrylic resin to the edges by following the resin application instructions.
5. Glue the dentures back together by filling an eye dropper with monomer bonding agent, then run a small bead of it on both edges, line up the broken pieces, press them together and hold them together until the adhesive has dried. Most monomers are quick drying, five to six minutes, but check the label instructions for the manufacturer's recommended time.
6. Lightly sand away any excess acrylic and glue with a metal file.
Explore the curriculum within a physical therapy program.
A Doctor of Physical Therapy degree program teaches students to diagnose and treat patients who are living with health-related conditions that are affecting their ability to perform normal physical activities. Physical therapists implement treatment plans and techniques to help patients restore their ability to move, prevent disability and reduce pain. Conditions in the body may develop because of injuries, surgery or cognitive disorders. The Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education should accredit any prospective Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
Kinesiology
Kinesiology combines the principles of science and biomechanics to study the human body and movement. Students learn about functional and dysfunctional movements during the human life span. The course takes both a theoretical and clinical approach to motion analysis. Topics cover human posture, jumping, throwing and lifting.
Neuroscience
The neuroscience course offers students an overview to neuroanatomy, neurological function and neurophysiology. Students study the normal structures in the nervous system and learn to recognize abnormalities. A focus is also placed on the manifestations of neurological disorders.
Exercise Physiology
Students in an exercise physiology course learn about the physiological responses to resistance and endurance exercises. An opportunity is available to develop a comprehensive understanding of the neuromuscular, pulmonary, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and renal systems. Students learn about prescribing and treating patients using exercising philosophies to healthy and injured clinical populations.
Motor Control
A course in motor control teaches students about the behavioral, physical and neural processes that control the human body. An emphasis is placed on learning and re-learning these processes following a trauma. Students are able to learn through theory, case studies and demonstrations.
Pharmacology in Physical Therapy
Students in the pharmacology in physical therapy courses learn how medications and pharmaceutical drugs can be used as part of a physical therapy or rehabilitation program. The course teaches students about how pharmaceuticals affect the physical process and interact with nutrition, metabolism and absorption. Students also must develop an understanding of the side effects associated with these drugs.

If you are having issues with your lymphatic system, begin treatment as soon as possible to alleviate the infection and get your body operating back to optimal health. If you have chosen not to use antibiotics to treat lymphatic infections, natural cures and herbs can be used to heal and treat the problem.
Symptoms
Lymphatic infections can range from many symptoms. You can experience small bumps under your under arm, or you can experience swelling; especially of the feet, legs, or arms. Fatigue and skin discoloration are all symptoms of an lymphatic infection. In addition to these symptoms, the main symptom of lymphatic infection could be enlarged lymph nodes.
Herbs
There are a few common herbs you can find at your local health food store to address the infection. Figwort tea cleanses the lymph system and removes toxins. Based on the dosage take the tea daily. Red root also cleanses the lymph glands and nodes and remove wastes and toxins. If possible, purchase red root as a tincture. Black walnut, typically taken as a tincture, is highly effective for lymphatic problems. Black walnut has antiviral, anti-fungal, and antibacterial properties. Black walnut is great for removing parasites from your body and giving your immune system a good boost. A common herb found almost anywhere in stores is Echinacea. This herb stimulates your immune system and it also eases any tension or stress on the lymph system. Echinacea is typically found in tablet form, but you can also take it as a tincture. Calendula can be used to treat inflamed or congested lymph glands. Take 4 grams of dried calendula flower heads and infuse in 1 cup of boiling water for five minutes. The calendula tea should be taken three times a day until symptoms subside.
Immune System
Because your immune system is linked to the lymphatic system, you should also use herbs to strengthen the immune system as well. Hypoxis rooperii is an herb that is the extract of the African potato and is used to boost the immune system. Black Walnut and Echinacea are beneficial for your immune and lymphatic system.
Water
The importance of water cannot be stressed enough. Drinking plenty of water allows any buildup of toxins to be removed and flushed out the system.
The bowels
Based on the foods that we eat, toxic buildup can accumulate in the lower intestines, which can also cause infection. Start a good colon-cleansing program by using an enema to also alleviate infections. It is suggested and advised that you always seek the assistance of a qualified naturopath when undergoing any forms of natural healing therapy.
