Bend A Headmaster Collar

A Headmaster Collar, also known as a Headmaster Cervical Collar, is used by those who need head support due to Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS), multiple sclerosis (MS), spine and neck injury and other medical conditions. They come in different colors and sizes (from infant to large adult), and are comfortable to wear, a snap to adjust, easy to take on and off and simple to keep clean. If the patient has a tracheal tube and breathing problems, a Headmaster Collar provides quick and easy access to the tracheal tube in case of emergencies. Adjusting this type of collar is simple and requires only a bit of manual squeezing.

Instructions

1. Put your thumbs on the chin piece and curl your fingers around the part that goes around the patient's neck.

2. Squeeze the collar until you think its the proper height and width.

3. Bend the sides up a bit so the collar doesn't dig into the patient's collar bones.

4. Try on the collar to test its fit.

5. Remove the collar and readjust as many times as necessary to achieve a comfortable fit.
