Sarcoma Symptoms

Sarcoma is an overall term for a cancerous tumor of the connective tissues (bone, fat, cartilage, flesh, etc.). Individual names are given to a sarcoma depending on the particular tissue involved such as: Osteosarcoma refers to a sarcoma of the bone, chondrosarcoma refers to a sarcoma of the cartilage and leiomosarcoma refers to a sarcoma of the smooth muscle. There are many more subtypes for sarcomas that point to the area of the tumor. Symptoms may vary according to the location of the sarcoma.


Lungs


A sarcoma of the lungs may cause breathlessness and coughing.


Abdomen


A sarcoma of the abdomen may cause constipation, vomiting and pain in the abdominal area.


Womb


A sarcoma of the womb may cause vaginal bleeding as well as pain in the lower abdomen.


Bone








In latter stages of sarcoma of the bone there may be a persistent pain and/or swelling.


Soft Tissue Tumor








A soft lump may appear under the skin. In the latter stages, the lump may become sore as the tumor grows, pressing against nerves or surrounding tissue.
