Reduce Lower Back Pain Help To Reduce Sciatica Nerve Pain

When you have pain in your lower back or sciatica pain there could be many different causes.Here are some ideas to reduce lower back pain in your everyday activities.

1. One of the very first thing you need to look at is your sleeping habits. You need to sleep on a firm mattress and lay on your side with a pillow between your legs. This will relieve some stress on your lower back. Low back pain will increase if you sleep on your stomach. Water beds are known to relieve lower back discomfort. When you wake up in the morning try a simple stretching exercise. Lay on your back and place your hands in front of your knee and pull your knee to your chest and hold for a 5 count. This is called a single knee to chest stretch.


2. If you need to drive make sure to pull the seat forward so your knees are level with your hips and you do not have to reach for the pedals. Keep the seat in a upright position so you do not slouch,this takes some of the pressure off the lower back.


If you have to sit at work make sure to place your butt all the way back in the chair. Sit with your feet flat on the floor and try and avoid long periods of sitting. Get up from time to time and slowly stretch your lower back.


3. The most common cause for lower back pain is improper lifting. When lifting a object make sure to bend at the knees and keep your back straight. Lift with your legs not your back. Take in a breath before you lift and exhale as your lifting. Keep the object close to your body and use your legs and waist not your back. Never extend your arms to the front or side while caring an object this will strain your lower back and sciatic nerve.
