Foods That Are Good For Fatty Liver

Foods That Are Good for Fatty Liver

Fatty livers are not normal. In fact, the job of the liver is to transport fat and toxins out of the blood stream; it is our body's blood filter. However, when we fill our body full of fatty foods, fat deposits begin to build up around the liver, making it increasingly difficult for it to do its job. To help prevent a fatty liver from becoming worse, dietary changes are a must.

Significance

Although most cases of fatty livers are considered to be benign, if they are ignored and preventative steps are not taken, it can lead to more serious conditions such as cirrhosis of the liver and liver disease.

Vegetables

You can eat as many vegetables as you want because they are full of vitamins and have no fat. When wanting to treat a fatty liver, low-fat or no-fat food choices are optimal.

Beans and Legumes

These food choices actually help lower the amount of LDL (bad cholesterol) in the blood. This will in turn lower the amount of fat absorbed by the liver and help relieve the amount of work it has to do in eliminating these fats from our bodies.

Fiber

Fiber can be found in vegetables, fruits and whole grains, as well as in supplements and flax seed. Fiber also lowers the amount of bad cholesterol in the blood stream; aim for about 30 g a day in your diet.

Whole Grains

Foods considered whole grain are not refined; this means they are not processed, do not contain the same amount of sugar as their counterparts white bread, sugar and processed cereals, and contain more of their natural nutrients. It is for these reasons that they are processed in the body at a slower rate and release less fat through the blood stream.
