Warts are a skin growth that occur due to the human papillomavirus. They can occur on any part of the skin, singularly or in clusters. Warts are contagious and passed through direct contact with the virus, often in public showers or swimming pools. Many different invasive techniques exist to eliminate warts, including the application of harsh chemicals, surgical removal and cryosurgery ("freezing" the wart). Some of these are painful and can lead to unsightly scars. There are natural, organic remedies you can try before heading to the doctor.
Thuja Extract
Thuja is a type of coniferous tree scientifically known as Thuja occidentalis. Essential oil is extracted from the thuja plant to make various homeopathic remedies. This oil has antiviral properties and can be very effective for the treatment of warts. Your local health store should sell thuja ointment. Apply it to the affected area as directed. Within weeks, your warts should diminish to reveal healthy skin. Alternatively, seek out thuja extract tablets. Follow the recommended dosage on the bottle. Do not be tempted to exceed the suggested dosage, even if you are not seeing any improvement in your warts, as this can be harmful. Thuja extract can be toxic when ingested in large quantities, producing convulsive seizures. In addition, Thuja never should be administered to pregnant women.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A plays a pivotal role in the overall health of our skin, increasing our skin's defenses against invaders such as viruses and bacteria. Direct application of vitamin A has shown promising results as an organic wart treatment. Vitamin capsules can be found in your local drugstore or health food store. Gently split open one or two capsules and apply the oil inside to your wart once a day until the wart disappears.
Tips
Try to keep the affected area dry, as warts like to live in moist conditions. If you have warts on your feet, change your socks and shoes regularly so they don't get too sweaty. Refrain from picking or touching the wart, as this will increase the chances of spreading the wart virus.
