Give A Face Massage To Relieve Sinus Congestion

A massage focusing on the pressure points of the face can offer relief for symptoms of allergies and sinus congestion. The face also has pressure points, and applying pressure there will help release pain and drain the sinuses.

Instructions

1. Have the person lie on a massage table, a bed or the floor with her head slightly raised on a pillow. Ask her to pull back her hair if necessary.

2. Pour a very small amount of massage oil, lotion or baby oil in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together to warm the oil. Distribute it evenly on your palms and fingers.

3. Place your fingers close together and rub in small circular motions, from the middle to the outside of the forehead. Increase the pressure with each pass you make. When you get to the temples, finish the stroke with firm circular motions on the temple.

4. Place both index fingers between the person's eyebrows. Press firmly, and move down the sides of the nose. When you get to the nostrils, find the cheekbone and cup all your fingers under the edge of the cheekbone. Make very small circles with your fingers, out to the jaw line.

5. Using your thumbs, press along the top ridge of the eyebrow. You will feel indentations along the bone. Stop and press at each, as these are pressure points. Pressure here helps provide relief for headaches and congestion.

6. Cup your fingers and pull gently along, under the brow bone. Find the little identations in the bone, and press as firmly as the person will allow.
