Trigger Point Treatment For Spine Arthritis

Spine arthritis is a debilitating problem that affects individuals mostly over the age of 40 years. Daily trigger point therapy can help restore the muscle function and decrease the pain caused by the pain and numbness in the back, neck, head and shoulders.

Deactivation

Trigger point therapy deactivates the myofacial pain, relieving the painful symptoms caused by spine arthritis.

Spasms

This type of therapy reduces muscle spasms in the back, increasing blood flow to the trigger point.

Pressure

Trigger point treatment is performed by applying pressure with the fingers and thumb in penetrating movements. Pressure is normally applied for 7 to 10 seconds per point and will momentarily feel painful; however, relief is quickly followed by this.

Knots

Trigger points will often be felt by palpating the muscles until you feel a tender, hard and knotted area. This area will be surrounded normal muscle tissue.

Stretching and Ice

After a trigger point therapy session is complete, you will lightly stretch the area relaxing the muscles and apply ice to the affected area reducing the chance for a nervous system response.
