Massage An Arthritic Foot

Arthritis is a debilitating medical ailment, possibly rendering people incapable of doing what they once loved to do, or need to do. The pain, alone, can often be too much to bare. Massage therapy, while not curing arthritis, can help people manage the pain and provide a much needed relief.

Instructions

1. Soak a small hand towel in a bowl of hot water for 1 or 2 minutes.

2. Take the soaked towel and use to gently rub the foot that is plagued with arthritis. You can also wrap the towel around the foot and leave in place for several minutes.

3. Remove the towel and sandwich the foot with both hands so that the palm of one hand is on top of the foot and the other is underneath it, just below the toes.

4. Press firmly against the bottom of the foot while sliding your top hand from the toes to the ankle, then back again. Keep repeating.

5. Grab the ankle with one hand while gently cupping the ball of the foot with the fingers wrapped around the toes and your thumb pressed against the ball.

6. Gently rotate the foot counterclockwise, then clockwise, then repeat.
