Prevent Asthma In Children

Asthma in children has grown to epidemic proportions. No one factor seems to be responsible; rather, a combination of triggers related to modern life seems to cause asthma in children.

While it is not possible to ensure that your child positively won't have asthma, it is possible to take some steps that have been shown to prevent the ailment from taking hold.

Instructions

1. Give up peanuts and peanut butter during pregnancy. Eating these foods when you're expecting has been shown to have some connection with birthing an asthmatic child, for reasons no one understands.

2. Modify your home to get rid of allergens. Do away with large items, like rugs and couches, that are made of synthetic fibers.

3. Keep your home free of paper clutter and dust. If there are roaches anywhere in your apartment building or home, exterminate them well before the birth of your child.

4. Avoid using powders and sprays around your baby. Try using vegetable-based oil or lotion when changing diapers..

5. Breastfeed your baby if at all possible. Milk products are often responsible for respiratory (as well as stomach) problems.
