Ayurvedic Natural Healing For Itchy Skin Hives

Ayurvedic healing is a holistic approach derived from centuries of Indian knowledge. The term "Ayurveda" comes from the Sanskrit words "ayus," meaning "life" or "life span," and "veda," meaning "knowledge." Herbal remedies are a hallmark of this approach,and there are various Ayurvedic remedies used to treat hives and itchy, irritated skin.


Home Remedies


To combat hives and/or itching skin, Ayurvedic practitioners traditionally use several home remedies. One sweet smelling solution is lemon juice mixed with coconut oil, and applied to the skin. Allow it to sit until dry. Coconut oil contains caprylic acid, which is what makes it effective for this purpose. Adding coconut oil to your diet can also help your body fight off hives.








Neem leaves from the margosa tree can also relieve hives and itchiness. You can purchase neem oil and apply it to the affected areas, or boil neem leaves in water and soak the affected area. Boiling the leaves of the babul tree (Acacia arabica) in the same manner can also be effective. Add a shot of apple cider vinegar to either boiled leaf remedy to help restore the skin's natural pH balance.


For the more sensitive skin of the face, a small amount of sandalwood paste mixed with rosewater can be applied like a mask, and then rinsed away. Equal parts of rosewater and fresh lemon juice, when left on the skin for 1 hour, can have the same effect.


Pre-Packaged Herbal Blends


Another growing trend in Ayurvedic healing is the sale of prepackaged herbal supplements, such as those sold by Banyan Botanicals. There are dozens of blends for different ailments. For skin conditions, the blends that contain triphala and guggulu to help cleanse and detoxify the body. It is recommended that these herbal supplements, when taken specifically to combat hives or itchy skin, be combined with another Banyan supplement known as Blood Cleanse.


Blood Cleanse supports healthy skin and a clear complexion. It contains five substances known to purify the blood and remove toxins. According to Ayurvedic tradition, most inflammatory skin conditions are a result of high pitta in the blood.


Diet


Adding more leafy green vegetables to your diet, along with fruits such as grapes, melons, apples and oranges can also help to improve the skin.
