Clean A Home For Health Care

Cleaning a house for the purposes of health care is important. Good sanitation in any house will decrease the likelihood of contracting illnesses, and keep the household environment more healthy overall. Whether you are helping care for an older relative, cleaning up after a sick child or spouse, or simply want to make your house more sanitary, there are a few simple steps that can be taken to ensure that your home is at a level of cleanliness that will promote greater health.

Instructions

1. Clean the kitchen. Wash all of the dishes in the sink or dishwasher and put them away so that the counters are all cleared off. Clean all the counters with warm water, soap and Lysol or another surface sanitary spray. Vacuum the floor if it is carpeted. Sweep it with a broom and mop it with warm water and soap if it is tiled or hardwood.

2. Place any cleaning supplies, poisonous chemicals and other toxic items out of the reach of children when they are not in use. Keep a locked medicine cabinet for prescriptions and other medications, and store all chemicals in a cabinet or locked closet where they are not accessible unless they are needed.

3. Clean the bathrooms. Wash out the shower with warm water and soap; scrub out the toilet and wipe down sinks, mirrors and counters with warm water, soap and a surface cleaner. Vacuum or mop the floor.

4. Pick up all clutter and organize all living spaces and bedrooms. Fold and put away clothes and move toys, books and other objects off the floors to reduce tripping hazards. Vacuum or sweep floors, and put sheets and any machine-washable curtains in the washing machine. Spray furniture with a sanitizing spray like Febreze.

5. Wash all windows with warm water and soap or a surface spray. Spray doorknobs, tables and other frequently used surfaces with a sanitizing spray like Lysol. Vacuum or sweep halls, floors and other rooms.

6. Continue maintaining the house at a high level of cleanliness. Keep the kitchen free of dirty dishes, wash bathrooms regularly and clean the floors so that they don't have food, dirt or other items on them that can increase the likelihood of illnesses.
