Balance Hormones To Treat Cold Sores

Balance Hormones to Treat Cold Sores

Cold sores are a part of the herpes family and pop up in the area of the lips and nose. The herpes virus stays dormant in the form of genital warts, cold sores and shingles. Cold sores usually happen during times of extreme stress or over exposure to the sun. Balancing hormones is one way to treat cold sores and even prevent them from happening.

Instructions

1. Get enough vitamins and minerals through a well balanced diet each day. Avoid foods high in fat, salt and sugar.

2. Add supplements to your diet to make up for what you don't get through the foods you eat. Women need additional calcium and folic acid as well as many minerals not present in the typical diet to keep hormones in balance.

3. Get plenty of rest. The body loves routine, so try to wake up and go to sleep at the same time each day. If you have trouble sleeping, gentle stretching at bedtime, warm milk with a dash of nutmeg or herbal tea helps calm the body and promote sleep.

4. Keep exercising. One of the best ways to keep hormones in balance is through regular exercise. Exercise strengthens the heart, bones, joints and muscles and keeps your body flexible. Exercise also improves coordination and brain function throughout life, but especially as we age.

5. Take a lysine supplement. Lysine is an essential amino acid that comes from the foods we eat. The body uses lysine to make protein. Protein makes antibodies, enzymes, hormones and body tissue. Get lysine supplements at your local health food store or vitamin shop.
