Sinus infections can cause congestion and headaches. These symptoms can interfere with work and study. For people leading busy lifestyles, it is important that they are able to clear their sinuses instantly. Fortunately, relief can be obtained through nasal irrigation. Sufferers of sinus infections can clear their sinuses by pouring a saline solution comprised of everyday household items into a small oval-shaped pot resembling a tea kettle and forcing the mixture through their nose. This process flushes out the sinuses and clears nasal passages.
Instructions
1. Fill the measuring cup with 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of baking soda and one pint of lukewarm water.
2. Stir the ingredients with the spoon until they are completely blended. Pour the mixture into the nasal irrigation pot.
3. Position your head over the sink at a 45-degree angle. Insert the spout of the nasal irrigation pot into the higher nostril until the opening of the spout is flush with the opening of the nostril.
4. Gently raise the handle of the nasal irrigation pot until the solution flows into the upper nostril and exits out of the lower nostril. Remove the spout of the pot from the upper nostril once the pot is empty.
5. Blow your nose into the tissue to expel residual mucus and saline solution.
