Soothe Bunion Pain With Paraffin Wax

A bunion forms as an ugly bump on the side of the foot. It protrudes outward from where the ball of the foot meets the big toe. Bunions cause excruciating pain. If not taken care of, bunions can hinder normal walking.

Instructions

1. Learn what paraffin wax is and how it works to soothe bunion pain. Paraffin wax is white or colorless. It's a solid hydrocarbon mixture, used in making candles, wax paper and lubricants. Warm, melted paraffin wax forms a coating over the bunion and concentrates heat onto the painful area.

2. Purchase paraffin wax in blocks online. You can also find starter kits for paraffin wax treatment online or in orthopedic supply stores.

3. Melt the paraffin wax in a ratio of ? cup of mineral oil to 1 lb. of paraffin wax. Besides soaking the foot in a portable spa with the mixture added, you can also apply the melted wax directly to the bunion and wrap the foot in plastic. The wax seals the warm moisture in and retains heat longer to the area.

4. Allow the paraffin wax to stay on the bunion for about 10 minutes in order to soothe bunion pain. It will easily peal off after it has cooled.

5. Reuse the paraffin wax several times when you use this method to soothe bunion pain. The wax can last several weeks and save you money since you won't have to reorder so often.
