How Long To Use Crest Whitestrips

Crest Whitestrips have been around for nearly a decade and are a proven teeth whitening agent available at a reasonable price. Consumers wonder, however, about their safety and how long they should be worn.

Whitestrips Work

Crest Whitestrips first hit the market some 10 years ago. Since that time, over-the-counter teeth-whitening agents have exploded in popularity because they generally work well at a modest price.

Safety

The manufacturer of Crest Whitestrips, Procter & Gamble, says it has conducted "extensive testing" on its teeth whitening product and maintains they are perfectly safe when used as directed.

Whitestrips and Oral Cancer

Crest Whitestrips contain hydrogen peroxide. Scientific experts and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have been unable to link hydrogen peroxide to cancer. Hydrogen peroxide has been used safely in mouthwashes and other products.

Tooth Sensitivity and Whitestrips

Some people find their teeth and/or gums are sensitive to Whitestrips. If you experience considerable irritation, use the strips every other day. If sensitivity persists, stop using the whitening agent.

Time Worn Varies

Crest Whitestrips are to be placed on your upper and lower teeth twice a day for 30-minute intervals. Whitestrips Classic, coated with a 6 percent hydrogen peroxide whitener, is worn over a 2-week period. Whitestrips Premium and Premium Plus are coated with 10 percent hydrogen peroxide and only need to be worn twice a day for 1 week.
