Relieve Estrogen Dominance

Estrogen dominance is essentially an alternative medical theory where a woman's hormone levels get out of balance due to either an increased production of estrogen or a depleted production of progesterone. This may be a result of an illness, stress, vitamin deficiencies or even menopause but will generally bring with it certain symptoms, such as irregular periods, mood swings, infertility, fatigue, premenstrual syndrome or hair loss. By bringing the hormone levels back into balance, it is believed that a woman can find relief from estrogen dominance.

Instructions

1. Consult with your family doctor or gynecologist before starting any sort of treatment for estrogen dominance, as the symptoms you are currently suffering may be a result of a different condition entirely.

2. Drop any excess weight. If you're carrying a few extra pounds, it may create an imbalance in your hormone levels. By dropping this excess weight, your body has a chance to regulate itself, so to speak, and to bring your hormones, including estrogen and progesterone, back into balance.

3. Exercise on a daily basis. According to the Insiders Guide to Natural Medicine, a woman suffering from estrogen dominance can help relieve this condition by taking up some sort of exercise on a daily basis (see Resources). You can walk, jog, bike or swim for about 30 minutes a day to help bring your hormones back into balance.

4. Reduce stress. Stress can take a toll on a person, even her hormones. When a woman is continually stressed, the hormone cortisol is essentially being released into her body at a constant rate. According to the Mayo Clinic, this can have an impact on her reproductive system, which would include the production of estrogen and progesterone (see Resources). By reducing stress, you'll allow your hormone levels to again find some balance.

5. Try using a progesterone cream. If, and only if, the estrogen dominance is a result of a depleted production of progesterone, you should try using a progesterone cream. Of course, you should again consult your physician before using this method of relief.

6. Take a dietary supplement. As mentioned before, estrogen dominance can be a result of a vitamin deficiency. By taking a daily supplement formulated for a woman, you can help bring your body back into balance, including your hormone levels.

7. Talk to your doctor about hormone replacement therapy. Many times, a woman can find relief from estrogen dominance by using a course of hormone replacement.
