We don't think of happiness as a choice, especially when bad luck seems to run through everything we do. But you can choose to be happy, or you can choose negativity. Your choice has a greater influence on your life than you think. When you choose happiness, you lift the spirits of those around you, and you get happiness in return.
Instructions
1. Decide every morning that you're in a good mood. Since the day hasn't started yet, nothing has happened to bring you down. Reserve judgment on things you anticipate will be unpleasant or difficult until they've actually happened. It may not turn out as bad as you think, and your positive attitude may just prevent it from happening.
2. Learn from your mistakes but leave them behind you. Even failure is no excuse to choose misery. We learn the most from our worst mistakes. After you've had some distance from painful experiences, think about what went wrong and what you know for next time.
3. Choose to have a positive attitude even in the face of difficulties. Look for hope in your life. A venture not yet realized or an experience not yet undertaken, but planned, is a reason to be happy. Opportunities are always just around the corner.
4. Be grateful for the good things you have. Just as life can't always go your way, it can't always go against you either. Include not just the good people in your life and your accomplishments but also your positive qualities and what you have to give to the world.
5. Have faith in what life brings. Life has a strange way of giving gifts when we least expect it. Be open to receiving success, happiness and joy. Let yourself enjoy the positive experiences of your life without hesitation.
