Average Cost Of Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation has become more and more popular as a cosmetic surgery through the years. As technology and medical knowledge have improved, the process has become safer and more commonplace. Additionally, breast augmentation has become more affordable. However, anyone who is thinking about breast augmentation surgery should investigate their procedure and find out just what their costs will be.

Material

One of the common questions that factors into how much breast augmentation surgery costs is what type of implant is used. The two common types of implant that patients have to choose from are saline implants and silicone implants. Saline is cheaper, often costing $3,600. Silicone on the other hand costs on average about $4,600.

Personnel

Another part of the cost of breast augmentation is the money that must be paid to the various people involved in the surgery. The surgeon's fee is usually around $4,000, but there are other people to consider. Primarily figuring in this list is the anesthesiologist, who often receives $800 dollars of the surgery's cost.

Facility

Depending on where a woman gets her breast augmentation surgery, there will likely be a facility fee. This fee is for the use of the equipment and for the time slot, as well as for other personnel such as nurses and record keepers who work for the facility itself. This fee is, on average, about $1,000.

Total Cost

With some of those considerations taken into account, the cost of breast augmentation surgery can range anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000. This, of course, depends greatly on the particular patient, her needs and where the surgery is being done. Different parts of the country will have different tax requirements, and if patients have certain medical needs that have to be tended to and planned for, that will cost extra time, equipment and money.

Related Costs

The costs of breast augmentation don't stop after surgery, however. Additional doctor's visits and follow-ups will be necessary to make sure there aren't any problems with the procedure. Patients might also need breast implant removal, which can cost upwards of $2,000. Or, if a patient wants firmer breasts, then a breast lift might become necessary, which can run more than $4,000.
