Treat Skin Tags & Moles

Many people have moles but would prefer they didn't. Moles are usually harmless dark growths on the skin and can appear anywhere on the body. Generally, no treatment is required for moles unless they hurt, bleed, or change in size, color or shape. If that is the case, or if you'd just like skin tags and moles removed, treatment options are available. From applying topical creams and herbal remedies to having skin tags and moles surgically excised, there is a solution for most everyone.

Instructions

1. Try one of the over-the-counter mole removal creams on the market. Many drug stores supply these. But, according to Dr. Lawrence E. Gibson of the Mayo Clinic, these creams are not really effective at removing moles. Read package directions and apply cream to skin tags and moles accordingly.

2. Apply castor oil. According to William McGarey, M.D., of the Edgar Cayce Foundation, patients have reported anecdotally that moles treated with castor oil disappeared. Apply a castor oil-soaked gauze to skin tags or moles several times a day, and tape it in place overnight until the mole is gone.

3. Discuss with your doctor or dermatologist if shave excision is recommended for your skin tag or mole removal. This method is especially used for skin tags and small moles. A shave excision is a procedure where skin around the mole is numbed with a local anesthetic, and then the mole is sliced off using a small blade. The procedure generally requires no sutures.

4. Go to your doctor and discuss having punch biopsy for your moles. This is a procedure in which the mole area is numbed, and then the entire mole is excised with a cookie cutter-type device. Suturing may be required.

5. Discuss with your doctor having excisional surgery for your moles. In this procedure, the mole area is made numb with a local anesthetic, and then the margin around the mole plus the mole are excised with a surgical scalpel. Sutures are generally required.
