1. Decide which services you would like to have available in your spa. You could choose to have manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, body treatments and more.


2. Speak with others in the spa industry and have them help you develop a business plan. You should include start up costs for equipment, deposits for your building, rent and payroll as well as projected income.


3. Go to your bank and apply for a small business start up loan. Most banks will be happy to supply you with the correct application. You will need to present your business plan at this point.








4. After you have secured your loan, look for an ideal rental location. Consider traffic in that area and if the building will suit your needs.


5. After you secure a business location, go to your local city hall and apply for the correct business licenses. You should also plan to join your local Better Business Bureau.


6. Go shopping. Look online and in trade magazines for the correct equipment for your spa. Decide when you would like to open and begin advertising an opening date.


7. Place ads in the newspapers for potential employees. You should also call the local trade schools and barber schools and ask about any graduates that are seeking jobs in the spa industry.


8. Once you have hired your staff and stocked your building, hold a meeting with your staff to explain business procedures. You are ready to open.
