Hysterectomy Natural Hormone Replacement

Women who have a partial hysterectomy, retaining the ovaries, often experience reduced hormone production. This can cause menopause to come earlier than it would naturally. Women who have a complete hysterectomy are forced into artificial menopause, often with drastic symptoms due to the removal of the ovaries. For relief, there are many herbs that can act as natural hormone promoters.

Natural Estrogen Promoters

Anise, black cohosh, licorice, raspberry, sage, wild yam root and fennel are natural estrogen promoters.

Sexual Pleasure and Desire

Damiana is an herb that can be used to enhance sexual desire and pleasure, which can be reduced after a hysterectomy.

Depression

Siberian Ginseng, or Eleuthero, can be used to treat depression, as can St. John's Wort.

Hot Flashes

Red clover and Dong Quai may be used to help prevent hot flashes.

Osteoporosis

Watercress, dandelion greens, nettle, seaweed and amaranth are rich in calcium and may be used to prevent osteoporosis.

Warnings

If you have high blood pressure, do not use licorice. Do not use sage if you suffer from seizures or seizure disorders. Do not use Siberian ginseng if you have hypoglycemia, high blood pressure or a heart disorder.
