Put your alarm clark out of reach to force yourself to wake up.
You have to wake up early at least once in your life, whether its to get ready to go to school or to work, to work out or to catch a flight. Some people find it more difficult than others to wake up early. Everyone has a different reason for not being able to easily wake up early. However, starting new habits can help you to wake up when you need to in the morning.
Set an Alarm
One of the best ways to wake up early is to set an alarm. The alarm may be an alarm clock or a setting that allows your television to turn on at a specific time. Avoid turning on your alarm clock's snooze function because you can slip in and out of sleep several times, which may cause you to wake up later than intended. Instead, get out of bed as soon as the alarm rings. To help you do this, don't keep your alarm close to your bed. Set it somewhere where you have to get up to turn it off. The same goes for your television alarm. Keep your remote control at a distance.
Sleep Earlier
According to Mayo Clinic's sleep specialist, Timothy Morgenthaler, M.D., adults need about seven to nine hours of sleep to get a good night's rest. If you sleep less than the recommended number of hours, make it a habit to sleep earlier to get a full night's sleep. If you're deprived of sleep, you need to sleep more -- making it more difficult to wake up early. If you have to wake up at a certain time, simply count back seven to nine hours to determine the time that you need to go to sleep.
Avoid Sleeping Pills
Over-the-counter sleeping pills can help you to fall asleep. However, over-the-counter sleeping pills can make you feeling groggy and unwell the following day -- making trying to wake up early difficult. If you're having trouble sleeping and need to wake up early, try following a regular sleep schedule instead. Furthermore, avoiding naps, high-fat meals late in the day, alcohol, caffeine and too much liquid before bed can help you to get a better night's sleep and thereby help you to wake up early without difficulty.
Keep the Blinds Up
One of the simplest ways to help you to wake up early is to sleep with the blinds up. Don't draw the blinds or close the shutters before you go to bed at night. Instead, wake up to the sun that comes into your bedroom. When you wake up naturally to sunlight, it stops your body from producing the sleep hormone, melatonin. If your room is too dark, it's harder to wake up because melatonin is stimulated by darkness, making trying to wake up more difficult.
