Prevent Vomiting

There are many causes of nausea and vomiting, from motion sickness, food poisoning, the stomach flu, drinking too much alcohol and pregnancy. In some cases, nausea and vomiting may come and go very quickly. In others it can last for a long time. Rest is essential when the stomach is upset in this way. Water or other clear fluids are needed to calm and replenish the body and complex hard-to-digest foods should be avoided. If nausea occurs frequently for you, eating ginger may help settle your stomach.

Instructions

Steps

1. Drink two large glasses of room temperature water very slowly. Wait 20 minutes and slowly begin to drink another two glasses of water.

2. Eat something bland like saltine crackers or bread. This should be enough to settle your stomach without putting any strain on you.

3. Eat ginger very slowly and sit or lie still as you absorb its nutrients. If nausea and vomiting are common issues you face, you might consider eating ginger daily to strengthen your stomach.

4. Drink peppermint tea very slowly. This has the ability to both refresh and relax you. Peppermint tea is a gentle digestive aid which will help to both clear, relax and strengthen the stomach.

5. Avoid making rapid changes in body temperature through environment, food or drink. It takes energy in the stomach to adjust body temperature, and overheating generally increases the chance of vomiting occurring.
