Brush Teeth Without Toothpaste

Clean teeth equal a healthy mouth. The toothpaste is the key to keeping your teeth clean. Many people use toothpaste alternatives like tooth powder or homemade pastes that keep teeth just as clean if used regularly. Believe it: you can brush your teeth without toothpaste.

Instructions

Use Alternative Teeth-Cleaning Products

1. Buy tooth powder at a local herbal store. The powder is a dry, chalk-like powder usually containing a mild abrasive like salt, soap for cleaning and flavor. Dip your brush in water, and then into a small amount of the tooth powder. It works just like toothpaste.

2. Add glycerin to baking soda to form a paste to brush your teeth with. The amounts are up to you. The toothbrushing is more important than what you use on the brush.

3. Clean your mouth with hydrogen peroxide like you would with mouthwash. Swish it around in your mouth, making sure to spit it all out. Rinse a few times with plain water to get all the hydrogen peroxide out.

Make Your Own Teeth-Cleaning Powder

4. Mix 1 part salt to 3 parts baking soda. The baking soda is the cleaning ingredient, while the salt is the abrasive that helps remove plaque just like toothpaste.

5. Add a flavor like peppermint or wintergreen oil if you'd like. Store the tooth-powder mixture in a sealed container.

6. Dip your damp toothbrush in the soda, and brush like you would with toothpaste.
