Asthma is a disease of the lungs that causes bronchioles to become inflamed and restricted. Your bronchial tubes become narrowed whenever an asthma attack occurs. Things that may trigger an asthma attack are allergies, mold, pet dander, chemicals, irritants and emotional stress. Symptoms of asthma include shortness of breath, tightness or pain in the chest, wheezing, congestion and coughing, particularly at night. Your doctor may prescribe a number of medications, like inhaled corticosteroids, antihistamines or beta-2 agonists to aid you in managing your asthma. 1. Put ferns around your home, as potted plants provide added oxygen and reduce allergen-producing irritants in the air. You should distribute the ferns in the rooms you spend the most time in.

3. Take helpful supplements. Increase your intake of vitamin C. Adult asthma sufferers should take 1,000 milligrams daily. You should also take 500 milligrams of magnesium every day, as well. These have been known to improve lung function and reduce asthma attacks
4. Try a few Ayurvedic remedies, such as trikatu and brown mustard oil, which can relieve tightness and discomfort in your chest. Consult an Ayurvedic practitioner on the appropriate use of these remedies.
5. Heat some castor oil, soak a cotton cloth into it, then apply it to your chest area, to bring relief.
6. Drink mullein tea, which aids in alleviating congestion in your lungs and clearing your bronchial tubes.
7. Try a homeopathic remedy. Some helpful ones for asthma are Ipecacuanha, Arsenicum and Carbo vegetabilis. The remedy you use is the one that best suits your individual physical and emotional symptoms.
