Create A Balanced Life

Create a Balanced Life

Finding balance in an overly planned life can seem like an impossible task. Most people want to have a greater sense of balance when it comes to their lives, but do not know achieve it. There are certain things you can do to help bring more balance into your life.

Instructions

1. Start with breakfast. Your eating habits play a crucial part in creating and keeping a balanced life. Make sure you give your body the nourishment it needs to function and fuel you through the day. Eat from all of the food groups and be sensible in what you put in your body.

2. Get up and get going. Part of being balanced is exercising and toning your body. Exercising not only strengthens your body to do necessary tasks, but can help relieve stress and lift your attitude.

3. Know when to say "No." Most of us have too much going on and no willpower to decline requests for help or added responsibilities. Review your schedule and set limits on how much time you spend on outside obligations. Do not over schedule yourself or your children with activities and clubs.

4. Get your beauty sleep. Sleeping allows your body to recharge after a full day. In order to wake up refreshed and prepared to face the next day, you need to let your body repair with good sleep. Even if you have to write it into your schedule, aim for at least seven hours a night.

5. Make time for you. Being caught up with work and family obligations leaves us little time to unwind. Even 10 minutes a day of time spent just on yourself can help keep your body and mind balanced. A good goal to reach would be at least 30 minutes a day of uninterrupted "you time."

6. Appreciate what is around you. Negativity is everywhere, from co-workers and kid complaints, the news and other media. Take time to tally up the good things around you and focus on as many positive things as you can. The "glass half full" approach will help keep you mentally and emotionally balanced.

7. Prioritize what means the most to you. Your idea of a balanced life may not be someone else's idea of balanced. Take a moment to figure out what you need to put more of your energies into to make you feel complete and secure.
