Aprilaire 350360 question

Aprilaire 350/360 Question

I have a question regarding the Hot water supply to this standalone humidifier. I used the supplied saddle needle valve to pierce my Washing machine hot water supply line. Is there a better way to do this and not use the needle valve. It seems like it could cause a problem down the road. Also how far away from the unit should the humidistat be located. I have it set in another room and during last winter there were times when the humidifier would run non stop. My house is well insulated and only about 2000 sq/ft. I did notice some condensation on the windows when it would run this long, but the humidistat was never satisfied. Is this normal. Thanks for any tips. John The needle valve is fine. If you want you can buy another type of valve, and have to drill a hole in the line. I'd feel uneasy with that cuz if you drill wrong, then you got a leak. Where is the humdiity air blowing? What set point do you set this at? Originally Posted by Jay11J The needle valve is fine. If you want you can buy another type of valve, and have to drill a hole in the line. The humidifier is blowing into the kitchen area on the first floor of the house from a ceiling register. I hung the unit in the laundry room and then ran flex line about 8ft to the register. I had the unit set at about 30-35%, depending on outside air temperature. I'm in Long Island NY so the temps dont get bitter cold. I would select the humidity according to what it recomends based on outside temp. Thanks The set point is with in range. you must have older windows if they have moister on it. How far is this other room that you have the humidistat at? The install sheet says about 5'. The install sheet says about 5'. The windows are less than 4 years old. The humidistat is about 32 feet away from the humidifier, and in a diffrent room. I dont see how that should matter, since the whole house should be humidifed to the same level. Do you have forced air system? If so, does it run long on a cold winter day or cycles often? No, I have Hot water baseboard heat in most of the house, and Radiant floor heat in one room. Ok, hot water heat has no air movement, so the humidity will only stay in the kitchen where it's blowing.. It will not travel very well to the next room where you got the humdistat. Is there anything I can do about that. I do run my trane air handler year round. I believe it is a variable speed unit so it is on low speed without the A/C. I'd like to have something that covers the entire house. Again, thanks for your input. John is the air handler in the basement or up in the attic? Normaly there is no return in the kitchen for you to pull the humidity out of the kitchen. Is there returns in each room? The air handler is in the attic, and you are correct, there is only one return at the top of the stairs with registers in all rooms.
