Kenmore he 3 front loader washing machine problem

Kenmore HE 3 Front loader washing machine problem

Help, Kenmore HE 3 Washing machine, drum is off ballance, wobbles when turned. Can anyone suggest a solution or suggestions on what I should be looking for to fix myself before calling a repairman. Have never seen a basket out of balance on that machine. Is the machine bouncing and shaking in spin? If it is put a couple of towels in it and wait until it gets to a high spin. put fingers under front and feel legs adjust the leg that is bouncing the most. This will smooth out your machine. Most likely will only take a turn or so with leg adjustment. There is a tech sheet in lower front panel that will tell you get into test cycle. Will let you get to spin faster. Is the machine making a roaring sound in spin? Rear bearing may be going bad. Try to push basket up and down to see if any free play in bearing. Remember tub is on springs and will move. basket should be solid in tub. Keep us posted Thank you for your reply. The tub appears fine, the interior stainless steel baseket is loose and movable, not stable. One person told me it may be a broken spider bracket? which may hold the basket secure. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks take off the back panel and make sure the large nut in the middle of the pulley is tight. if it is and there is still play you will need to replace the rear tub and the basket $$$ Thank you for the reply, I tightened the nut, and there is still play in the stainless steel basket. When I turn it by hand from the front, it does not turn true and steady but wobbles. Are you saying something in the back of the tub may have broken where the basket fits ? What are my options, or best solution? Thanks You have to replace the rear tub to replace the bearing. We also replace basket as bad bearing usually scores the basket bearing shaft. How does this compare to replacing the spider bracket, if it is the same or this is a dumb question, sorry. Thanks Spider is the the back of basket and I don't think it's replaceable separate from basket. Thank you for the information. It appears to me it is as you say. What are my options, new parts, used parts?, estimated cost to repair including parts and labor etc.... I appreciate the help. get model # from door area will start with 110. Go to Parts Accessories | Shop Find Lawn Garden, Appliance Parts at Sears PartsDirect | SearsPartsDirect.com put model # in and than look up your parts. Tub and basket. Possible that basket will be ok but be prepared to replace if shaft scored. Update to this posting. Repair tech came out and looked at machine. It was determined that the rear tub, stainless steel basket and the front big tub(it was cracked) all needs replacing!! Estimate..$1,049.00 parts and labor! I plan on buying a new one based on this, can anyone recommend a quality washer that should last longer than 6years. How long can you expect these things to last these days? The guy said we should have been hearing a grinding noise or other noises leading up to the banging but we didn't. I know one thing, I will not be purchasing another Kenmore! Thanks to everyone for the help through this ordeal. Kenmore machines are made by several different manufacturers. Front loading washers were all the rage in the 1960's but they faded away because they were unreliable. Fast froward about 35 to 40 years, same issues. The Kenmore top loader is made by Whirlpool. The design has been around for about 25 years or so. It's reliable, easy to repair and washes clothes well too! I always recommend Whrilpool made. Whrilpool, Kenmore, Roper, New Maytags, Still would stay away from Maytags They use the HE2 style. LG makes a good front loader Thank you both for the replies. I will most likely buy another front loader to try and match the dryer,at least in size and color (will not be another HE 3 Kenmore) I think you are right Daddy John about the top load washers as the previous ones we had were about 20 plus years old, not sure if they are built as well these days. I have read the LG's are loud in the spin cycle and hard to get a consistent ballance. Any thoughts on Samsung, read good things about their front loader from consumers, but would value your opinions. Thanks the samsung has 2 balance rings on the basket so it will skate considerably less than the LG I have purchased a new washer. Question: Is there a market for the old washer, six year old Kenmore HE 3 front loader, needs new rear tub, main tub and stainless steel basket per the sears tech who came out. The new washer comes on Wed and it will be hauled off unless there are answers here that prove otherwise. Is this something a do it yourselfer using used parts might be interested in, or is the best option to let it be hauled off. Thanks, Rock Ridge maybe someone with the same washer would want it for parts, i bet the 3 computers are still good. try craigslist. or maybe try to sell the good parts as used ones on ebay
