How to get squirrels out of my attic

get squirrels out of my attic?

We have squirrels in the attic. How can we get rid of them. I try to use moth balls they are still there. i try to locate the area where they are coming in from which look like the window. So I put to boards up and i still hear them up there. Can someone help me thanks First, you do not want to poisen them or seal them up inside the house. At best they will try to chew their way out and worst they will die inside your walls and it will take 6 months to get rid of the smell. I see you are in the city so shooting is not an option. I've made little one way doors out of steel and attach them over the squirells hole in your houe. The one way door allows the squirrels to leave but not come back inside. The doors have a large steel flashing all around so the squirells cannot chew another hole right next to the one just covered. Once you are certain all the squirrels are out of the house then remove the door and patch the hole. If the squirrels have chewed a hole into your house once they will probably try to again. Install sturdy metal flashing or hardware cloth (heavy steel screen/mesh) if you notice them chewing again. Put an am radio in the attic tuned to talk radio, they will leave... bigtrux, that is a new one, is there any particular talk channel they don't like ? Couldn't resist. My story, while waiting quietly along a field watching for deer, I ate my two apples and tossed the cores off to the side into some leaves. About 15 minutes later I could hear some rustling only to discover a squirrel approaching my position. As I watched, he went directly to the leaves where I had tossed my apple cores, grabbed one and he was gone. I chuckled at how quickly the scent of an apple had brought him running. About 5 minutes later, here he came again to a spot several feet away from the first and grabbed the second core. I thought, that was amazing that he new there were two. Anticipating a third trip, I waited, but he was done. Apparently he knew there were only two. My point, set a trap and bait it with apples. I think they like them and I know they will know they are there. Bud
