Is acrylic latex enamel ever going to dry

Is Acrylic Latex Enamel ever going to dry?

Hi gang, Yesterday I decided to paint my white, wooden dresser black to match my new bed frame and dresser, so I primed it thickly with Kilz and then rolled a few coats of black Acrylic Latex Enamel over the top. A few hours later it was still very sticky to the touch. I thought, oh well, it'll dry overnight. I wake up today, and it's still just as sticky! I'm afraid to close the drawers or place anything on top of it in fear they will won't open or won't come off. My question to you all is: is there anything I can coat over the top to harden the paint job a little? Or do I need to sand and restart from the beginning. Please help! Thanks Welcome to the forums! It can take latex enamels up to a week or so to fully cure. If you applied 3 coats in one day, it will take the paint longer to dry. That many coats should have been applied over 2 days. Just because the primer/paint is dry to the touch doesn't mean it's dry enough to be recoated. I'd give it another day to see how it dries. Specifically which latex enamel did you use? There can be a big difference between brands of latex enamel. While latex enamel will never dry as hard as oil base enamel, the top line ones will dry ok, their cheaper counterparts will always be a little sticky I'm also curious to know whether you used latex or oil based Kilz. I've used Kilz Premium Latex a couple times out of necessity and have been VERY unhappy with how sticky it is, even days later. Nothing worse than stacking a few painted boards together to transport somewhere and then finding they are stuck together a short time later. It's also not sandable at all. Pure garbage, IMO. Yep, that was my worry; that the OP had used latex Kilz.
