Troubleshoot An Rca Clothes Dryer

Your washer and dryer are vital parts of your home, and when they are not working you want to get them back in service as quickly as possible. Fortunately, there are some simple troubleshooting steps you can take on your own without the expense or hassle of calling a repairman.

Instructions

1. Check the vent system of the dryer. If the dryer vent has become blocked, the dryer will not be able to work properly. This can manifest itself in clothes that do not dry properly and a dryer that does not generate enough heat. Remove any blockages you find.

2. Check the lint screen and empty it if necessary (for best performance, empty the lint screen before every time you load the dryer). Some RCA dryers came with lint screens that were small for the dryer's size and thus need frequent emptying.

3. Check the vent around the exhaust of the dryer. Lint and other debris can gather there and cause the exhaust system to become blocked. This in turn can cause the dryer to run hot and not as efficiently as designed. If debris is found, carefully vacuum around the area to remove it. If your dryer has a flip-down door, open that door and vacuum out any accumulated dust, dirt and debris. Be sure to unplug your dryer before you vacuum the interior.
