Change Your Xbox Boot Skin

Change the skin on your Xbox to refresh its appearance.

You can customize the outside of your Xbox gaming system with skins that fit around the exterior of your device. You can choose Xbox skins that represent team logos and colors or your personal style and can create customized skins by uploading your photos onto a skin-design website. Xbox skins are interchangeable, and you can slide them on or off using household tools for a new appearance.

Instructions

1. Turn your Xbox off and unplug it. Apply heat to the skin using a hair dryer. This loosens the adhesive so you can pull the boot skin off.

2. Peel back and pull up on one of the top corners of your Xbox boot skin. Remove the skin slowly to try and pull up as much adhesive as possible with the skin.

3. Apply the adhesive side of shipping tape to the surface of the Xbox where the old skin was. Smooth the tape out with a plastic card and press down so that the tape sticks to your Xbox.

4. Pull the shipping tape up slowly to remove any remaining adhesive off of your Xbox. Repeat Step 1 and this step if any adhesive remains.

5. Clean the surface where you will be applying your new Xbox boot skin with rubbing alcohol. Remove any dirt and debris so the new skin can adhere.

6. Peel off the back release layer of the new boot skin. Align the skin to its location on the Xbox. Press down on the center of the skin, pressing your way out to the edges to eliminate wrinkles and creases. Apply pressure to the center of the skin with the plastic card and work your way out to the edges. Flatten the skin to remove air bubbles with the plastic card.

7. Set your hair dryer to the lowest setting. Apply heat to your boot skin to bond the adhesive to the surface of your Xbox. Smooth the skin by applying pressure from the inside of the skin to the outer edges with the plastic card. Wait 10 to 15 minutes for the skin to return to room temperature.

8. Peel off the clear transfer tape from the front of the skin by pulling slowly on one of the four corners.
