Remove The Grill On A Peavey Classic 30

The speakers in guitar amplifiers are protected by speaker grilles. Peavey amps, such as the Classic 30, use cloth covers that are mounted to a wooden frame in the front of the speaker cabinet. If the grille becomes damaged or dirty, it is important to know remove it to repair or replace it. The Classic 30, a small-size amp with one speaker, is easy to work on.

Instructions

1. Disconnect the speaker wires from the Blue Marvel Speaker. This is easy to do on the Classic 30, because it is an open-back cabinet. The speaker wires are color coded, red for positive and black for negative. Mark the wire with a piece of masking tape, if the wires on your amp are not color coded.

2. Unscrew the speaker mounting screws and remove the speaker. The speaker is secured to the frame with Phillips head screws. Removing the speaker makes it possible to remove the grille clothe and wooden frame from the front of the amp. The grille cloth is secured to the frame in the front of the speaker cabinet.

3. Unscrew the eight screws in the front of the amplifier. Gently push the grille clothe and frame forward. Remove the grille cloth and frame from the amp.
